Bridgit’s work consists of fish and marine themes infused with the richness of coastal environments, natural flora and fauna. Her work has been influenced through a lifetime of drawing and living by the sea.
The work focuses on the environment in which she finds herself. A rich, multi-layered approach where she interprets what she has experienced through a palate of both natural and manmade elements. Bridgit’s work distils what we all remember from our own experiences but are unable to capture in a photo or describe in words.
In a recent interview Bridgit said “I wish I was born in 1761 rather than 1961. I could imagine myself being a naturalist travelling the coastline of Australia and documenting all that I saw.”
Bridgit’s attention to detail is astounding. Each work is an elegant composition of key primary items embellished with amazing details to provide both an easy glance and a rewarding deeper inspection of the work. Basically, the works keep the viewer engaged and intrigued as the details keep revealing themselves and rewarding the observer with subtle yet complex presentations of coastal environments.
